After approximately eight weeks of outpatient treatment during which time she never suffered through an alcohol relapse, Emily stopped going to alcohol rehab and instead began going four times per week to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Attending these meetings helped Emily follow through with her alcohol-free way of life, they provided her with the support she required, and they served as a steady reminder of the destructive outcomes that are associated with excessive and hazardous drinking. Compared with her life less than a year ago, life was now good and full of potential that she could have never wished for or achieved while while she was troubled with unhealthy and abusive drinking behavior.
