The Alcohol Related Deaths And Alcohol Related Problems That Are Interlinked With Heavy And Irresponsible Drinking And What Can Be Done About Alcohol Addiction And Alcohol Abuse In Our Country
How many people's lives are cut short due to destructive and hazardous drinking? How many junior high, high school, and college students lose their lives every year due to an alcohol overdose? How many people are the victims of alcohol related crime or violence each and every year? How many people face severe consequences in their lives because they received a "driving under the influence conviction? On an annual basis, how many alcoholics fail to get the professional alcohol treatment they need? How many individuals get injured or lose their lives in alcohol related traffic accidents every year? How many people lose their lives each year from a condition that is one hundred percent preventable, such as alcohol poisoning? How many individuals lose their lives every year because of drinking problems? How many children are born each year with fetal alcohol syndrome?
So what is the point in asking these questions? Primarily to underline the devastating and destructive nature of excessive and hazardous drinking. In fact, and based on the questions articulated above, it's a wonder why anyone would choose to drink in an excessive and irresponsible manner.
Stated more precisely, with the host of legal proceedings, employment dilemmas, financial difficulties, relationship issues, and health problems that are correlated with alcohol dependency and chronic alcohol abuse, why would any person with any sense at all want to drink in an excessive and irresponsible manner? If truth be told when some of the above topics are put under the microscope more closely, excessive and careless drinking makes even less sense and becomes more illogical.
Wouldn't you think that alcoholics would be able to see some of the alcoholism symptoms that they manifest? In a similar way, doesn't it seem plausible to think that many more chronic alcohol abusers would be able to perceive some of the alcoholism signs that they display? Moreover, wouldn't you think that people who are addicted to alcohol would try to learn more about their alcoholic symptoms by reading about some basic alcohol related facts, statistics, and information?
After reviewing the alcohol abuse and alcohol dependency research, the point is so significant that it needs to be restated: With all of the dangerous and debilitating consequences that are even remotely interlinked with repetitive and continuous alcohol dependency and alcohol abuse, why would any person want to involve himself or herself in abusive drinking?
What can be done about the pervasive nature of alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse in our country? Firstly, society needs to get the message to more individuals about the unhealthy and debilitating effects of careless and abusive drinking. Secondly, people who are alcohol addicts or alcohol abusers need to look look at themselves honestly and ask why they are not getting the professional alcohol therapy they require.
Third, our students need more meaningful and more relevant educational and preventative approaches and methods so that more students at all grade levels, including those at college, are "reached". And fourth, our students need to learn how to become problem solvers in life instead of getting easily drawn to the "instant gratification" and the "quick fix" of an alcohol or drug abuse "high" or "buzz".
There's room for hope and optimism if individuals can start drinking responsibly and those who engage in repeated and continuous drinking can become persuaded to get the alcohol treatment they require. Indeed, why put your loved ones through turmoil, pain, and suffering because of your careless and abusive drinking when you have the power to control your life by drinking responsibly or even refraining from drinking if you can't control your drinking behavior?
